Homeward Bound: The Causeway Lass Returns to Portrush Harbour

Here’s a sight that never gets old.

The Causeway Lass heading home to Portrush Harbour after a day out on the water — bow cutting through the waves, a flock of opportunist seagulls wheeling and diving in her wake, hoping for whatever scraps might be going. It’s one of those small, brilliant moments that captures exactly what being out on the North Coast is all about.

There’s something deeply satisfying about the run back into harbour. The fishing is done, the stories are already being told, and the Causeway Coast is laid out ahead of you as you come in. Whatever the day brought — a bucketful of mackerel, a close encounter with the local seals, or just a few hours of fresh air and open water — the journey home always feels like a good one.

The Causeway Lass has been making this run from Portrush Harbour since 1998. We’d like to think the seagulls have been there most of that time too.

Come and see it for yourself this season.
